Herman LeVern Jones’ TheatreSouth and Band Master Richard Beckford are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide an intensive performing arts conservatory at the brand new Pompano Beach Cultural Center located at 50 W. Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach, Florida 33062. We know through experience that theatre arts changes lives and we are excited for the enormous energy and creativity that will blossom during the Summer of 2017!

During this intensive 10-week camp, campers will learn how to become a triple threat (actor, singer, dancer) from industry professionals and specialists with a focus on scene study, choreography, vocal training and song interpretation. In addition, campers will learn the ins and outs of auditions, theater production, and rehearsal preparation, all while having fun, making friendships, and working inside a professional theater.

Summer classes will be held Monday – Friday from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm starting Monday June 12th and ending on Friday August 18th. Campers will learn how to become a triple threat (actor, singer, dancer) from industry professionals and specialists with a focus on scene study, choreography, vocal training and song interpretation. Students will also learn about playing musical instruments and all other aspects of mounting a stage production including but not limited to costuming, make-up, sound, lights, media, and arts administration. Campers will also learn the methodology of auditioning, theater production, and rehearsal preparation, all while having fun, making friendships, and working inside a professional theater.

HappyvillePress ReleaseImage682x383In addition to classes and instruction, students will have the opportunity to perform on stage in front of the general public in two productions: “The Phantom of the Old Opera House” and “Happyville, USA”. Both plays will feature music, dancing, and singing and that will engage and entertain audiences. The cast for both plays will feature local talent. Mr. Jones believes in showcasing local and diverse talent. All of the actors in these productions will be from the Pompano Beach community, and a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities will be represented.

Another special perk with our program is that the students will have the opportunity to work with Broadway’s Amadi Chapata and Robert Green (choreographer for Taylor Swift and Missy Elliott), both students who started out their performing arts careers under Herman LeVern Jones’ training.

Mr. Jones, who shares over 44 years of acting, directing and producing knowledge with the South Florida community is proud to be a part of the cultural revolution that is taking place in Pompano Beach.

The Pompano Beach Cultural Center is an $18 million facility with 5,000 square feet of performing arts space and a state of the art library.
