The Pompano Beach Cultural Center is proud to showcase the latest endeavor from the City’s Public Art Program, Painted Pompano: Schools of Art. The installation, featuring 12 magnificent sculptures, each standing five feet tall, will grace the Cultural Center’s ArtsPlaza through June 11, when the fish will move to their permanent locations throughout the City.
The theme for the Exhibition is “Schools of Art”, with each fish reflecting a different period of art history. From Renaissance to Art Deco to Pop Art, 12 “schools” are represented, and the installation’s “colorful disunity” provides a perfect “selfie” spot.
This exhibit is part of the Pompano Beach Crossroads Project, which won a prestigious $100,000 National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” Grant for the City of Pompano Beach. The display is free and open the public.
