The Pompano Beach Cultural Center is proud to showcase the latest endeavor from the City’s Public Art Program, Painted Pompano: Schools of Art. The installation, featuring 12 magnificent sculptures, each standing five feet tall, will grace the Cultural Center’s ArtsPlaza through mid-May, when the fish will move to their permanent locations throughout the City.
The theme for the Exhibition is “Schools of Art”, with each fish reflecting a different period of art history. From Renaissance to Art Deco to Pop Art, 12 “schools” are represented, and the installation’s “colorful disunity” provides a perfect “selfie” spot.
This exhibit is part of the Pompano Beach Crossroads Project, which won a prestigious $100,000 National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” Grant for the City of Pompano Beach. The display is free and open the public.
